Halong Bay is a World Heritage Site for a good reason. The islands are magestic, their vertical faces plunging from turquois waters. Everywhere you turn, there are layers of islands with no opening to the sea in sight. We spent 2 days on an old Chinese junk boat (fishing boat) with people from all over the globe, kayaking, caving, and eating fresh seafood. When in a place like this, nothing else seems to exist.
Denise and Ryan on the junk.
A passing junk. 1,000 junks leave the port at Halong Bay City everyday.
Our room in the boat.
The top deck. At night we enjoyed the stars with the faint glimmer of the other boats around us.

Dear Denise and Ryan,
You sure have seen some beautiful and interesting spots and saved some big money on your shopping spree. I must admit to be a little jealous. We will never see all you have seen except through your eyes. We really are interested in the war stuff since we live through that and had many friends fight in the war-including Gerry Gaida.
Love you. Mom and Dad
